Waco, Texas may be known as the birthplace of Dr. Pepper and the home of Baylor University, but it’s quickly becoming a destination for fans of ‘Fixer Upper.’
HGTV’s Chip and Joanna Gaines’ put their hometown in the spotlight, transforming homes on their hit TV show.
They’re also a driving force behind the revitalization of downtown Waco with the opening of their Magnolia Market and Silos Baking Company.
Sweet confections, home décor, and merchandise draw crowds to the complex most days.
Even on a bitterly cold morning, the line for the bakery runs out the front door and around the corner. I’m told this isn’t unusual. On our most recent visit, we picked up a carrot cake and shiplap cupcake, as well as lemon and lavender doughnut holes.
Outside the silos, a food truck park lines the perimeter of an Astroturf courtyard and stage.
Their store features an assortment of home accessories, plenty of design inspiration, and souvenirs featuring their brand.
