WATCH: Zugspitze, the top of Germany

The journey to the top of Germany isn’t for the faint of heart! Here’s a look at how to get to the Zugspitze summit in the Alps by cogwheel train and cable car. Hold on tight!

  • 9,718 feet above sea level
  • Can see Germany, Austria, Italy, & Switzerland
  • On a clear day, there’s visibility of 155 miles
  • Also home to one of the last glaciers in Germany
  • Can reach the summit by cable car or cogwheel railway
  • Zugspitze is home to one of four cogwheel trains in Germany. It’s carried 20 million passengers since opening in 1930.
