WATCH: A mineral masterpiece, millions of years in the making

The Caverns of Sonora is a dazzling crystal palace located in the Texas Hill Country, about halfway between San Antonio and Big Bend.

Explored since the early 1900s, it opened to the public in 1960.

The two-mile underground trail features 360 steps at an average temp of 70 degrees and 98% humidity.
